Installation
Before installing the NI-845x software, log on as Administrator or as a user with Administrator privileges. The NI-845x software setup program must have Administrator privileges because the program modifies the configuration registry of your system. Complete the following steps to install the NI-845x software.
Insert the NI-845x software CD into your CD-ROM drive. The installer launches if your CD-ROM drive plays data CDs automatically. If the installer does not launch automatically, navigate to the CD using Windows Explorer and launch the autorun.exe file from your NI-845x Software CD.
The installation wizard guides you through the necessary steps to install the NI-845x software. You can go back and change values where appropriate by clicking the Back button. You can exit the setup where appropriate by clicking Cancel.
When the installation is complete, click Finish.

Documentation
The NI-845x Software User Manual is the primary document. The manual includes an overview of the I2C and SPI buses as well as detailed information on the API.
The NI-845x Software User Manual is in Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF). You can download the Acrobat Reader for free at: www.adobe.com.

Supported Operating Systems
The NI-845x software must be installed and run on the following Microsoft operating systems:
Windows 2000 service pack 3 (or higher)
Windows XP
Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit)

Changes from Previous Releases
The following changes were made to the NI-845x software in this release:
Added support for LabWindows/CVI 7.1 (or newer)
Added support for Microsoft Visual C/C++ 6.0.
Added support for the Microsoft Windows Vista operating systems.
The API VIs and examples for the LabVIEW 8.2 development environment are mass compiled to LabVIEW 8.2.1.

Release Notes
On Windows Vista, access to the NI USB-8451 I2C/SPI Interface is limited to a single process. This means you cannot control a single NI USB-8451 I2C/SPI Interface from multiple executables at the same time.
